Joan Strott-Alvini
Joan Strott-Alvini is a highly skilled enamelist and jeweler based in the historic Jeweler's Row in Philadelphia. With over 35 years of experience, she specializes in both wearable fine jewelry and decorative metalwork, including intricate creations such as boxes, cases, bowls, and objects d'art. Joan’s expertise spans a wide range of traditional enameling techniques, including Cloisonné, Champlevé, Plique-à-jour, and Limoges - showcasing her mastery of this ancient and delicate art form.
Her training includes studies at prestigious institutions such as Glen Echo Park in Maryland, Haystack Mountain School of Arts & Crafts in Maine, and Moore College of Art in Pennsylvania. Throughout her career, Joan has served a diverse clientele, offering custom designs for individuals, antique restorations, and trade-based work for jewelry stores across the United States.
Beyond her studio practice, Joan has contributed significantly to the enameling and jewelry-making communities. She has lectured on the art of enameling, taught at the Tuscarora Lapidary Society, and serves as a Trustee on the Board of The Enamelist Society, Inc., reflecting her commitment to education and the preservation of this art form.
